What are the age limits to participate in the Teens Tafrih program?

This year, the event is only for boys and girls ages 15-17 attending high school.

How do I sign up and what is the registration fee?

You can sign up for the event here. The registration fee for the 3 days and 3 nights is set at $221.00 USD. This includes all meals, accommodation in cabins at Rocky River Ranch activities over the 3 days, and transportation to and from the airport. If there are any financial concerns, please contact your local TNC, email us at TeensTafrih@gmail.com, or contact your regional coordinator and we will handle every request on a case by case basis.

I have submitted the form but have not received any emails back from the Teens Tafrih. Why?

A confirmation message was displayed and emailed after initial Sign Up. All submissions will be collected until January 2nd, and responded to as they are processed. See FAQ below regarding invitations.

If you have not received any emails from Teens Tafrih by January 9th, please check your spam box. Please add TeensTafrih@gmail.com to your address book to make sure you receive all emails from us. You may also contact your regional coordinator for any questions.

I have signed up. Does that mean I will definitely receive an invitation to attend?

No. Due to limited space, we have set a quota for each region to ensure a well balanced representation in the attending group. We will send formal invitations to the attendees with confirmation, necessary details about the event, and instructions on how to pay the registration fee. Please do not finalize travel plans until you receive an official invitation from Teens Tafrih.

If I have attended once, can I still sign up?

Yes, everyone can sign up even if they have attended a Teens Tafrih event in the past. However, preference is given to those looking to attend for the first time.

What if I do not have an ITS (E-Jamaat) ID? Can I still Sign up?

No, you need to have an ITS (E-Jamaat) ID card in order to complete the registration process to be eligible to attend. However, if you do not have one, please contact your Amil Saheb.

Do I have to attend all the days of the Tafrih Program?

Yes. In order to maximize the success of the program, all invitees are expected to be present at all events. Therefore, you should plan to arrive in Austin no later than 5pm, Friday, February 15th and depart no earlier than 2 pm, Monday, February, 18th. If your itinerary cannot meet those timings, please contact your regional coordinator to discuss alternatives and feasibility.

Which airport should I arrive at?

Austin Bergstrom International (AUS) Airport is the closest to the campsite and the preferred airport to fly in and out of to maximize time there and reduce travel time. For some guidance on flight prices, check out the Getting Here page.

Can I arrange my own accommodation?

No. All campers will be provided accommodations at the camp cabins, all you have to do is bring some sheets and a pillow! If you have any special requests, please email us at TeensTafrih@gmail.com. We will do our best to make you as comfortable as possible in the accommodations we provide.

Do I need my own transportation?

No. Transportation will be provided from markas or airport to the venue. Once the event has ended, we will also provide transportation to airport or markaz (if you are staying in Austin for a while).

What is the payment deadline?

If you have received an invitation, registration fees need to be paid within a week, or your spot will be passed on to others.

What will the weather be like and what type of clothing should I bring?

Once you have received the invitation email and the registration fee is paid, you will be emailed a suggested packing list with other relevant information. Rida and topi is required, however we will inform the attendees on items you will need to bring, especially clothes per the colder weather. NOTE: The camp requires all to bring their own bedding as well. You can get started with the items listed on the packing list posted here.

Is this event a big hoax for a 'secret agenda'?

Amongst the wide support and positive reviews we have received already, a few students were curious if there is a “secret agenda” behind it all or if it was an elaborate “trap”! Rest assured that there is no such intention and we hope that you can be our voices and advocates advertising for the next event – just like the crew that attended the previous event!
